I have been working in bars and restaurants since my last years in school in Germany and continued doing so, whilst studying communication science in Vienna. In my years in Austria I started to learn about the world of spirits, wines and beers and naturally found myself combining my knowledge by mixing drinks and started to serve guests my first creations.
This led to a rather unexpected win at the Austria Finals of the World Class Competition in 2016 followed by the Mixology Award for the Newcomer Bartender of the Year for Germany, Austria and Switzerland in Berlin, while I was working at Miranda Bar in Vienna. All this led to me moving to Munich and the wonderful chance of leading the team at Ory since the beginning.
What do you like best about Ory:
Our bar is mostly defined by a team that is always trying to go the extra mile to make every night at the bar an experience. As a freely operating bar in a five star hotel environment, we have the challenge and the chance to bring a bunch of completely different people together, which is partly the essence of a bar for me.
Your favorite drink:
My first cocktail love was probably the Boulevardier. At a time before I was really doing cocktails myself, I was going through the old Schumann’s Bar Book resting behind the coffee machine at the restaurant I worked at and my eyes came across this weird classic concoction made from Bourbon, Campari and red vermouth. Probably my first real drink and I wouldn’t be sad if it would be the last!
